Beulah May Brown

Beulah May Brown, 72, of Benton Harbor, made her transition on Dec. 6, 2021, surrounded by her family.

Born Jan. 31, 1949, in Armorel, Ark., she was the fifth of 11 children to the late JB and Izona Brown.

Homegoing services will on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021, at Greater Community Christian Fellowship. Visitation will start at 10 a.m., followed by services at 11 a.m.

Beulah graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1969. She accepted Christ at an early age. She was a cook at Win Schuler Restaurant and Holiday Inn as a domestic worker.

She met and married Joe Willie Brown in 1970, together they nurtured five seeds, four of whom mourn her passing, Kimberly West, Carla (Charles) London, Jolin Brown and Joseph (Stephanie) Brown Sr. From those seeds, 10 grandchildren and then 11 great-grandchildren were born.

She also leaves to cherish her memory four sisters, Beatrice Brown, Emma King, Patricia Beecham and Yvonne (Michael) Mitchell-Johnson; three brothers, Johnny and Clarence (Theresa) Brown and Joel Brown; and one sister-in-law, Bobbi Brown. She was part of the village that helped raise six of her nieces and nephews, Caron, Venina, Sharon and Eric Tillman, and Derrick and Terrance Brown. She also leaves behind two godsons, Frederick Pettigrew Jr. and Elmore Walker Jr.; and her three best friends, Diane Fort, Marcia Whitelow and Betty Walker.

She was proceeded in death by her late husband, Joe Willie Brown; son, Keith Brown; parents, JB and Izona Brown; three sisters, Virgie Atkins, Georgia Shurn and Mildred Brown; and a special nephew, Jessie Brown Jr.
